LCIE Bureau Veritas performs tests and certification in the field of photovoltaics:

  • Connecting cables

Connecting cables have an important part to play in the functioning of photovoltaic systems, as they connect solar panels and undulator together.

In fact, these cables are subject to very particular constraints:

  • direct voltage
  • solar UV radiation
  • difficult weather conditions
  • etc…

In order to obtain the NF mark, these cables have to comply with the UTE C 32 502 Standard published in December 2008. Before they can be launched on the market, it is crucial to have these cables tested in the most suitable way, as their aptitude needs to be assessed.

Certification as proof of compliance

The NF USE mark is the certification mark for cables in France. You are a cable manufacturer and as such, are you aware that the NF USE mark is the best proof of compliance for your products?

The mark is actually a proof that the cables are complying with the applicable regulatory requirements. Only a certified body appointed by AFNOR can deliver the NF USE Mark. And in France, this body is LCIE Bureau Veritas.

  • Connecting systems

The connecting boxes between the panels and the undulator (direct voltage) and the ones located between the undulator and the ERDF network (alternating voltage) can be certified according to standard NF EN 60439-1. Electrical equipment located inside these boxes have to comply, each one with its applicable standard, and they can also be submitted to NF Mark certification.

  • Undulators

Regarding the undulators, these have to comply with the applicable regulatory requirements but also, to the German standard DIN VDE 0126–1 for what is called the “islanding” function.

  • Panels

To be certified, the photovoltaic panels have to comply with the requirements of standards NF EN 61215 (crystalline silicon), NF-CEI 61646 (thin films) and NF EN 61730 (safety). The panels may also need to obtain the NF mark certification.
